How do I choose the best Plank & Co colour for my space?
Start with the tones and lighting within your space.
Light tones tend to brighten rooms and conceal dust more effectively than dark tones. Dark tones, on the other hand, create contrast and depth, depending on the surrounding design elements. Neutral mid-tones offer versatility across a variety of aesthetics.
Plank & Co offers samples, allowing you to see how each colour looks firsthand.
Note: Due to the natural beauty of real wood, product photos and samples may not capture the full range of colour, grain, and character variation. To ensure this product is the perfect match for your project, please consult a Plank & Co. representative.

What’s the difference between North American White Oak and European Oak?
There are more similarities than differences between North American White Oak and European Oak. Both woods are durable and will perform equally well in residential and commercial environments. However, there are some subtle differences between these two wood species.
The most notable difference in Plank & Co products lies in tone and grain. European Oak tends to have a slightly more pronounced grain and produces warmer-toned colours due to its higher concentration of tannins. In contrast, White Oak has a tighter grain pattern and a more neutral base.

Do all Plank & Co floors have the same specifications?
Plank & Co products are made with consistent engineered construction standards within each wood type. All North American White Oak products feature a ⅝” (16mm) thickness with a 4mm top wear layer, while all European Oak products have a 15mm thickness with a 3mm top wear layer. All planks are 7” wide, range from 3’ to 8’ in length, and come with a natural hardwax oil finish in character grade.
All ten products have a sanded surface. These specifications are listed on each product page. The primary differences across the Plank & Co collection are in tone and grain.

Are Plank & Co products solid hardwood or engineered hardwood?
All Plank & Co products are engineered hardwood—designed for enhanced stability, longevity, and compatibility (including with radiant heat systems)—while still being made from 100% natural wood.
What is a “character grade” floor?
Flooring grade helps categorize the natural characteristics and visual elements of wood planks. These grades define the amount of texture, surface features, and variation present in the flooring.
A Plank & Co character grade floor celebrates the wood's inherent beauty and individuality. Each plank highlights the natural features of oak—such as knots, grain variation, and minimal sapwood—bringing out the organic richness of real wood with a modern, lived-in aesthetic.

Are Plank & Co hardwood floors prefinished or site-finished?
Plank & Co hardwood floors are prefinished with a natural hardwax oil.
Are Plank & Co. hardwood floors suitable for homes with pets?
Yes. However, like all hardwood flooring products, Plank & Co hardwood floors are not indestructible, and extra care should be taken to avoid noticeable scratches and other marks. Since all Plank & Co products are character grade, they tend to hide scratches well due to their natural features. Please refer to our Cleaning & Care Guide for more information.
